First Enduring Understanding

Skill Development - Students will understand the way an artist uses the elements of art and principles of design impacts the medium and capacity for individual expression.

Experiment with of a variety of media and art tools. Opportunities to explore the elements of art through guided discovery of Line, Shape, Color, and Texture.

 

Express emotions and create images with a variety of media.  Investigate elements of art and principles of design; Line, Shape, Color, Texture, Value and Space to develop images for communicating their ideas and interests to show personal style or preferences.

Introduction of imagery, symbolism and perspective drawing.  Use different kinds and qualities of line, shape, color, texture, value, space, form, unity, balance and emphasis in a variety of media.  Identify art careers.

Selecting appropriate elements of art and principles of design, subject matter, style and media to communicate individual ideas.

 

Second Enduring Understanding -

Making Connections - Students will recognize art increases understanding of history, culture and human experience.
